カナダウッドグループは、カナダのいくつかの林産物関連協会を傘下に持つ非営利組織で、最高品質を誇るカナダの木材製品の国際市場への窓口として包括的な役割を果たしています。

カナダウッドグループはカナダの連邦政府、州政府そして会員企業から出資を受けており、各会員企業を代表してカナダ国内では森林政策、貿易、建築法規、製品リサーチ、環境など諸問題についての取り組みを行っています。海外向けにはこれらの協会が一致団結し、カナダウッドグループとしてカナダ産木材製品及びサービスの普及に取り組んでいます。

日本においてはカナダ産林産物の普及活動、日本の法規基準に適合させる活動、日本仕様に合わせた技術開発を中心に活動を行っています。

このウェブサイトでは、カナダウッドグループが日本国内で取り組んできた木造建築技術を紹介すること、国内外の木造建築の優れた事例を紹介することによって木造住宅から中大規模木造建築の発展に貢献していくことを目指しています。

Now is an exciting time for architects involved with structural wooden design. Technological advancements in mass timber, innovations in wooden assemblies and connector systems as well as growing interest in environmentally sustainable carbon solutions are helping to expand the boundaries of structural wooden design. Since the 2000’s wooden mid-rise and high-rise construction have rapidly expanded rapidly in Europe and North America, leading some construction experts to call wood, “the construction material of the 21st century”. Thanks to next generation innovations in wooden design and the inherent carbon sequestration and energy efficiency benefits that wood provides, the global architectural community now has the opportunity to take a leadership role in combatting climate change without sacrificing
performance attributes.

While the aesthetic and environmental benefits of wood are relatively well understood, the architectural community is often challenged to find the informative knowledge resources on practical structural wooden design. In this context, Canada Wood Japan is launching this new web site called “wood-solutions.org” as an interactive online resource to support architects and designers aiming to expand their knowledge of wooden building design. We encourage you to view our gallery to learn about innovative wooden projects and click on the “solutions” category where designers are provided with an interactive design tool menu to deepen their knowledge of specific wooden building assembly solutions.

For over 40 years the COFI/Canada Wood Japan office has been active in supporting the advancement of sustainable wooden construction in Japan.
